Okay, can't figure out the compy right now (might be bad memory, since one stick doesn't work at all, and I discovered that the system freezes after 3-5 minutes of running regardless of OS - [livejournal.com profile] dotter_can, I find it amazing that I got your computer up and running and I can't even get mine going!) so I'm on a different train of thought...

Now that we're all in 2010, what movies theorized that 2010 was the end of the world, or well, anything?

I've discovered that theoretically, Robots should have gone bezerk and a Blue Bomber would have saved us all (in 200X, Mega Man 4 is listed as being in 20XX), and Skynet will become self-aware in April of 2011. The events of Back to the Future II happen in 2015...

...so what's supposed to happen this year? What should we be afraid of/embracing with open arms?

As you pointed out, the sequel to 2001! Although I guess by virtue of its prequel already having been 'disproven', it doesn't count anymore. ;)

I used to do tech support for Macs, which doesn't help much for your PC. From your description though... freeze on Memtest??? ...my best guess would be a problem with the RAM buss, the NVRAM or both. In any event, I think you've eliminated everything but the MB, so that's what I suspect. My advice would be to take it back for repairs.

And thanks again for helping me! :D

Hey, always willing to help out a friend in need :)

I think what I plan to do is check out the Qualified Vendors List that [livejournal.com profile] scruloose mentioned in my previous entry (http://tamakun.livejournal.com/1005234.html?thread=2617266#t2617266) (where I went a little over the deep end). If I can find some memory on that list at a local store, I'll grab it and see if that works. If another pair of sticks fails, then I'm fairly certain the issue is not with the memory. But unfortunately, that leaves me with the Motherboard and the CPU. Urgh.
