So, I just saw the Microsoft E3 Press Conference for this year. Having a pair of bosses who love games is awesome :D

However, that Press Conference was boring as hell. Let's introduce a whole bunch of casual games! Let's show off some still-needs-tweaking games. Let's show off an Eye-Toy/Eye of Judgement ripoff (Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise's Camera Card function), a PS3 Cross-Bar ripoff (their new XBox Dashboard) and Mii ripoff ("Avatars" that look strikingly cute... and similar...). No big surprises, no Halo 4, but ooh, Final Fantasy XIII. *shrugs* oh yes, and "We have the biggest installed userbase" (*cough in North America cough*)... I'm certain Nintendo and Sony will pull out their own spins on the numbers too, but it also wasn't a stretch to predict that they will have more than twice the installed userbase than the PS3. Don't they already?

Currently: Re-encoding a bunch of videos to test out MoonShell on the DS and see just how good homebrew video playback is. :D

I'm kind of glad. If they had announced or even hinted at a new console I would've killed them.

Was that something that might've been brewing? I'm just surprised they didn't have a lot of new announcements that any internet-savvy fan didn't already know about. Then again, this is a Presser...

lol. I can't believe Nintendo announced that attachment for the Wii controller. Well, actually, I do, because a lot of us have complained about the accuracy situation.

I'm interested to see what Sony will talk about tomorrow. Hopefully, it's not just rehash and they have some secret bullets hidden.

I don't know what that little doodad will do, but I noticed that Microsoft didn't talk about a motion-sensitive controller other than the Lips microphone. I wonder if they did that to deflect attention, but even so, I wonder what it'll be used for and if it'll be backwards-compatible or not. Maybe we'll hear today.

Dude, the FF13 announcement is HUGE. This just sank Sony stock futures. They were banking on this being a PS3 exclusive, and MGS4 just hasn't done it for them.

As far as the numbers thing, I think they're saying "when all is said and done for this generation."

This E3 presser was one of the best in recent memory, IMO. Not necessarily the presentation itself, mind you, but the content.

Oh yes, and I totally forgot the one thing that caught my ear that I was actually excited about - Portal: Still Alive exclusive. That's tempting but I can't imagine it'll be an Xbox-only exclusive for very long.

Well, $$$ talks, and if MS threw enough shift-4s at EA, then yeah it'll be Live-only. Then again, if FF13 can go multiplatform... ^_^

J, the only thing you're missing out on is some of the finest gaming of this generation. Particularly with the FF13 announcement (I'm no FF fanboy, I haven't played one since 8) it seems that the high-def exclusive will be limited to first-party only. Especially with the temporary drop, the 360 is just too good an offer to pass up. That, and other than playing the occasional Blu-ray, I haven't touched the PS3 since finishing MGS4.

Sounds like they were introducing a ton of vaporware.

Well, this is Microsoft we're talking about. They're now trying to get everyone fired up about Windows 7 ("Better upgrade to Vista, 'cuz it'll be harder to go directly from XP to W7!"), and they haven't even nailed down the specs yet, let alone written a line of code. Why should their gaming division be any different?
