Tomorrow morning Christine and I will be in Halifax to see
hysteriachan and
scruloose for the week, so I'm working on cleaning up, and that means organizing my computer for shutdown. :P So, here's a little collection of stuffs from what's gone on this week:
Monday, I slept. :P It was my switch-over day, so I came home at 7 and slept. (Then I ended up waking up Tuesday morning at 4am with my body telling me I was at work and should be working so I couldn't get back to sleep until 7:30am. O_o)
Tuesday, we attempted to go to the Woodbine beach but it appears that everyone decided the same thing, and they all brought their cars. We were stuck in the parking lot with no parking for half-an-hour before we said "screw this" and drove over to Tommy Thompson Park. We grabbed a lot of pictures, and some of them I really like (swans!) but I've placed a couple of pictures of this tower of bricks someone made lower in this entry. Later on in the day, we went to the Ribfest for a second time as it was Canada Day and they had fireworks. Let me tell you, these fireworks were massive, loud, and made of awesome. There was an excess of people there, but we still managed to find a place to relax on the hill and let the fireworks explode over our heads. :)
Wednesday, I went with Christine and Mike to the Toronto Zoo. We went primarily because of their Great Barrier Reef exhibit, but I have to say I was underwhelmed. They had one lionfish, four seahorses (which were all sitting at the bottom of the tank for some strange reason), a handful of Jellyfish, and 23 feet of Reef. Yes, 23 feet. And it was so new, it didn't really look very established... I hate to say it but I have seen prettier fishtanks at Big Al's. This just looked, well, like an early setup of a saltwater tank. Nothing very special. And it was hot, so most of the animals were either hiding in the shade or sleeping (or both), bt it was still fun. Christine has a funny line: "It's funny to think that just over that hill, there's a rhino." (referring to when we were driving by the place)
Friday, we went to Whittamore's Berry Farm and picked a good bucketfull of strawberries and a couple handfuls of beans. We need to arrange a big gathering out there sometime; it's always fun. (However, the strawberries will only be in season for a few more weeks, so we may have to go for raspberries instead.)
