Man, backing up your old e-mails is tricky. Though, I got some good help online.
Hotmail has announced that they're disabling/killing Outlook Express ability within a couple of months, and their Mail software doesn't work with Windows 2000. What a surprise there. So I'm using Eudora and Hotmail Popper in tandem to essentially translate and redirect all my Hotmail e-mails that I've stored after all these years and throw them into my GMail account. I never thought I'd actually get above half-a-gig of mail, but, well, there ya go. :P
It's a process that takes quite some time and bandwidth, too. And unfortunately it loses all the original dates/times too - it's not the most perfect synchronization, but hey, at least I get to keep the e-mails in case I need some address from like 2 years ago. :P
Now, all I need is a standalone app to access GMail and I'm gravy. :)
