I didn't expect my Firehouse Chili to mean that I'd have to visit a Firehouse. I thought it was like Tollhouse Cookies, where the cookies were made in a Tollhouse in its origins (and therefore, the Firehouse Chili was made in a Firehouse initially).

I really should have heeded my own advice when I noticed there was a lot of spice in the mix.

I've proceeded to burn the roof of my mouf. No worries, though. I just know to take it easy, eat the Chili when it's not mind-melting hot, and drink something.

You know, Alton Brown has a recipe to make your own chili powder. If you really want to make things spicy...

Yikes! That looks insanely hot, and that's because I don't know half of the ingredients listed there. XD

I confess, I really did that just to scare you (it certainly scares me!). That said, it would be a good chili powder, and you could control the ingredients and know exactly how old it is. You would just use less of it in recipes.
