I found the cookies - yes, they were left behind yesterday. :P
I appear to have cut my lip. o.O
I spent last night finishing up gifts and watching the Gemini Awards. I'm surprised that Corner Gas didn't win a single award. Slings and Arrows and Human Cargo both won a couple of Geminis. Trailer Park Boys won Best Comedy Program.
I almost feel as if they were voting more for internationally-successful programs. But I haven't kept my hand on the pulse of television production, so to speak, so I really shouldn't guess. But I figured that Corner Gas would win something. (There was a quote, and I really should find the source, but it was something to the effect of "The Voting Committee should be 'tested' if Corner Gas doesn't win.")
I also unpacked the little tree that my Mom got me, and well, it looks... kinda like that tree that Charlie Brown got. I'm going to try my hand at it again and see what I can do in making the tree look full, but really, it's only for me... the wreath and garland my Mom got me was enough.
A recent survey discovered that women prefer fake trees (because they are easier to take care of / no maintenance) and men prefer real trees (for the scent, and the difficulty of setting up fake trees). It seems to be reversed for my family. my Mom loves real trees. Our entire family has always liked real trees, too. I'd love to have a small 2-ft tree on my table or something. And I'd try to plant it afterwards, too. ^_^
And here's a survery:
1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before?
Made a major decision in my life and got myself a mortgage and a condominium. ^_^
2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I hardly make them every year, but I always say "lose weight" because I'd like to improve my self-image. I can't be bish, but I can be close to bish. ;P
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
One of my cousins gave birth to an adorable baby girl.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, but many celebrities did...
5. What countries did you visit?
Just plain ol' Canada. I was gonna say "USA" but that was last year! But I did visit Halifax for a very special couple's wedding. ^_^
6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?
Money. So I can pay off my debts.
7. What date from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Probably getting the job of Master Control Supervisor, and taking a pay cut 8 months later. ><
Also, the first time I saw my view from the condo at night. My legs buckled.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
The Condo, undoubtedly.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not progressing at work.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Thankfully, no, aside from the geneic colds and all that.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
hmmmm.... hMMMMMM.... Condo? :P
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
I can't think of any...
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
My bosses, at times.
14. Where did most of your money go?
The Condo and the Car. The Car is paid off in 2 more years; the Condo in 24.75. :P
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The Condo. I sense a pattern here!
16. What song will always remind you of 2004?
I can't think of anything, sadly...
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? I'd say middling.
ii. thinner or fatter? I think I'm going the wrong way >< thus, the New Year's Resolution.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Having people over, seeing people, and basically socializing.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Complaining, Spending Frivolously... but they were all House purchases.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
With my family. And work, if no-one can work the morning shift. ><
21. What was the most embarrassing thing that happened to you in 2004?
I can't think of any potentionally embarrasing moments, aside from me when I'm drunk. XD I have to unfortunately leave that to others to remember for me. >,>
22. Did you fall in love in 2004?
Nope.
23. How many one-night stands?
Zero, and I get very rare instances that there were more.
24. What was your favourite TV program?
Corner Gas.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I never hate.
26. What was the best book you read?
I haven't read many books, and I have "Good Omens" and "The Salmon of Doubt" on my "To Read" pile.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Hmm... this year? I've rediscovered The Arrogant Worms thanks to the Hot Dog song, and I've downloaded almost a full album of Goteki. And then there's TISM, who I know through "Everyone Else Has Had More Sex Than Me". Their songs are funny. :D
28. What did you want and get?
A place of my own.
29. What did you want and not get?
A lot of stuff I can't buy for the time being until I get my money in check.
30. What was your favourite film of this year?
I only really remember The Incredibles. I never saw Team America, The Ring or even Spiderman 2.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned a quarter-century this year, and celebrated by playing video games up at Pacific Mall with Kristy, having lunch with Chris & Ysa, visiting the dentist (XD), and having dinner with my parents. :)
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
To be in a better, less-stressful job.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
Casual. Pure and Simple.
34. What kept you sane?
...you mean I am? *titter*
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Jon Stewart, during Indecision 2004.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Jon Stewart, during Indecision 2004. Seriously. I'm not much for Politics. ;P
37. Who did you miss?
Chris and Ysa. Constantly. ;_;
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Shanen and Jamie. And meeting with with Michael after so many years and him bringing Bodi along - after he disappeared 6 years ago.
39. Tell us a valuable lesson you learned in 2004.
Start saving your money as soon as you can. Take $25 and have it put automatically into your savings, and never touch it. You'll never miss it, and if you want, add more to it if you have extra money. The amount you save up really adds up quickly. (I started probably 5-10 years ago, and that was the downpayment on my condo.) I only wish I could give that advice to everyone 10 years ago, though.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometimes
You just might find
You'll get what you need"
I think that sums it up nicely, actually. I didn't think I'd have a song quote by the end of this.

1) Yes you were in the US this year. How quickly you forgot E3! :(
2) If you're looking for a little tree to put up in your place, check out a money tree. They're cool little trees and have beautiful, gnarly trunks and firm, rubber-plant-like leaves. Erin and I want one, but we have no room for it. :( again

2) "Money Trees" exist? My Mom actually has a Rubber Plant, and it got too tall - it fell over. (She's since pruned it down.) I'd prefer a Bonsai, but I'd likely kill it, knowing how delicate they are...
