So I went shopping today and did some price comparisons on some random items.

Here's what I've discovered: Typically, the smaller the store, the better the price. Both the IGA and the Food Basics had 3 of the best prices on the 8 random items. I was surprised that IGA had the best price on Ground Beef and Milk. The Food Basics had the best prices for Cereal, Eggs and Tuna.

Amazingly, the Dominion didn't take any of the categories.

Now, I hadn't checked the No Frills, Loblaws, or Price Choppers, but there's none in my local area, so I'll check one the next time I'm near one.

I picked up all the ingredients to make a Basic Chili - just meat, onions, stewed tomatoes, and Kidney Beans (with Chili Powder and Red Pepper Flakes). It started to simmer at 6:15, and I have to leave it for an hour. It smells awesome already, and I've got enough Chili to last at least 5 days of meals. This is probably more healthy than buying a lot of cans of prepackaged Chili. :)

Man, I found the secret ingredient to chili -- add one ounce of bourbon to the mix. Brings out the flavour a treat. So worth buying a bottle just for that.
