So I decided that hey, since I still have internet at work, and I have a functional computer at home, I'll just bring the text over every day. :P So here's what went down over the past three days:
~~Saturday~~
I'm writing this out on my first evening at the condominium. It's just past 11:30, and I've had a very busy day. I just want to write down my thoughts in a pseudo-journal and then dump it all into my LJ once I get my internet back.
The place is still a mess, as to be expected, but the essentials are setup - if only temporarily. :P I've got the computer sitting in the middle of the bedroom, the bed's done with an alarm clock on a bedside table (the desklamp was dirty, so I washed it off and it's drying before I plug it in :P) and the TV/DVD/VCR/Stereo combo is setup. Yyyyep, the essentials. :P
Speaking of Essentials, I forgot to mention that my sister picked up a copy of "Essentials of Cooking" as a moving-in gift. ;_; She didn't need to do that! But she did... and she put Post-its on a lot of the pages with tons of personal little notes, like "eat some vegetables!" and "I'll come over if you cook this". It was so touching! *sob*
The move went as smooth as silk! Dave came over earliest, followed by Michael (a buddy of mine from Earl Haig) and Kinnon, followed by Matt, Mark, and Diana. We basically threw what was leftover from my non-packing into boxes and carted them into the moving truck, which was big enough to fit three bedrooms. :P We dropped off Seanna's Hope Chest and a nightstand for a dresser she had already picked up, and we made it to the new place fairly early. We got stuff loaded into the place - I was directing where stuff went, and it seemed like a lot more stuff when I was moving out. I look at the place and I have about 10 boxes in both the living room and bedroom, and about 5 in the main hall - I could put a lot of this stuff in the storage closet, too. Roupen showed up in the midst of moving to help, and then we chilled for a while after moving everything in.
We went out to Abacus for lunch, as a thank-you for their help. (Reminder to self: do not eat "Beef Honeycomb" again. :P)
We came back to the condo, chilled a bit more with some anime while I started to put things away (and I continued to do so for the rest of the night in an off-and-on fashion, cleaning up here and there... tomorrow, I'll do more of the same to clean up the place a bit more - my dresser is still in the main entryway. :P
(Animes watched: Abenobashi, Fafner (definitely want to see more!), Voices of a Distant Star.)
I had a pair of high-excitement moments today. First off, once darkness fell, Diana went outside to the balcony to see the view, and I followed... and totally fell in love with the night view. Tears filled my eyes (as they do now, remembering) as I looked over the city, filled with lights from the 401, all the way from Bayview and Sheppard to to maybe Victoria Park and Sheppard, and all the way down to the blinking CN Tower. ;o; It was at that moment that I felt giddy, excited, nervous, scared, happy, glad, and all the other emotions that I haven't felt in so long - I finally realized that I own this place, and his is my nightly view of the city. (My new Fanboy title is now "bastard". XD)
And before Michael left, he said there are a couple of people who wanted to see me in the lobby. Little was I aware thatCarla and Robert from Earl Haig were downstairs! :D I haven't seen them for just over 6 years! We hung out in the lobby for a short while and caught up on what we're doing these days, and exchanged e-mails. Man, it was amazing to have seen them after all this time - and they haven't changed much, either. Robert's working as a translator and a teacher, and hopes to get into a translating job at the UN. Carla's the head manager of a comic book store (not in title, just in duties). Oh wow, I just never thought I'd see them, and it was just... so... GREAT to see them again! I hope I get to see them more often now! 6 years! Just... wow.
Now I'm just typing away on my bed blindly (I'm checking my spelling errorslater now), and just listening to the sounds of the city outside and the hum of the AC. I'd best get to bed; tomorrow, I go visit my parents and sister and we're gonna go see a baseball game together! (That's funny... we all move away, and we start doing things together. It always works out that way. :) )
~~Sunday~~
Just before 10 o'clock and I've decided to ramble a bit. I got up early with an Unfamiliar Ceiling above me, but I wasn't freaking out. I just new it was different. I slept rather well, but I think I was too cold last night, so I've set my AC up a couple of degrees and added the electrical blanket to my covers.
I hooked up the answering machine, and got my first message within 30 minutes. :P Seanna had given me a call regarding picking her up for the ballgame. Dad called later and asked to be there sooner, so we moved earlier out to my parents' before going to see the Jays take on the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. It was a fun game! The last time I had seen a baseball game (probably about 10-15 years ago), all I remember was that I watched the JumboTron the entire game and that they closed the Dome mid-game because the bug situation was pretty bad. :P
Carlos Delgado is the only baseball player that I recognized on the Jays' team. He's definitely been there for a long time!
It was a great game, the Jays triumped mightily over the Devil Rays 9-7. Full of entertainment and cheering for the Home Team. :)
After returning home, I picked up some more stuff from the basement (Mom had already vacuumed the place and reorganized the area, it looks so different than it used to, I wonder what my room looks like?) and then headed home, but stopped into the IGA since I had read a flyer the day prior about a $1 sale going on. Like, $1 for a pound of beef. $1 for Tang. $1 for soup. $1 for pasta. It was the perfect opportunity for me to stock up on the essentials, so I grabbed lots of stuff, and now both my fridge and cupboards are full... well, half-full. Maybe I should get more ;) (I actually need to go back on Tuesday/Wednesday... they were out of stuff so I need to go back on that day to get what I missed.)
Oh yeah, I need Rice Krispies, since I have marshmallows... :P (Hey! I could do Hot Chocolate too! :P~~~)
I wanted to set up my new desk today, but I had no time to do so after my shopping spree at the IGA. I spent a good hour in there, I think :P I'll work on the desk tomorrow - and maybe I can figure out where to put my dresser, so I can clean up my clothes a bit. (My clothes are currently in boxes, occupying where the desk should be going, so I really should get those out of the way first.)
I hope my parents aren't crying. I'm a little saddened by the fact that they might be, as both me and Seanna moved out of our old house in the same month (even though Seanna was in Halifax for 3 years). Jake gets totally excited whenever he sees us now. My parents are very strong people. I hope they're not getting "Empty Nest Syndrome". At least we're all within 10 minutes drive of each other, so dinners together are still possible. :)
Oh yeah, I never mentioned that Jake is now wearing one of those plastic cones over his head, and while that's been entertaining and frustrating for all of us, hopefully that's stopped him from licking his broken nail. I think they take the cone off on Tuesday.
I probably will work on moving my fishtank over tomorrow. I have a plan. I just hope it works.
~~Monday~~
I worked on moving the fishtank today, as I predicted. I took the fish and put them into jars, and then took the emptied fishtank and tank stand over to the condo, and then went back for dinner and to bring the remainder of the fish stuff over, including the fish. It was fairly simple, and the only problem was that the water was too warm to put the fish in immediately, so I ended up replacing about half the tank with really-cold water to balance things.
I wanted to get the desk done today, but that would involve me moving the clothes into my closet and dresser (which is also located in the closet, since I own... about 10 hang-up shirts (overshirts and "good" shirts, and that left a LOT of space in there). But as it stands, I'm too tired now after moving the fishtank. And the bookcase (which made its way into the kitchen. I doubt it'll stay there, I need to find a really good place to put that.
I must be in denial about owning this place, I keep calling it an "apartment" when I talk to people. :\
Found my binoculars. They're actually pretty poor for viewing anything more than what the naked eye could already see, so no Peeping Tom for me. <j/k>!!
Bedtime for me!

If you need any help putting together the desk or anything, just give me a call.
Marshmallows, eh?
Seriously, though, good luck with everything. We were playing some rousing games of cards last night, so you and Em were on my mind.
Cheers, A.
