Yay! I'm home!
...and feeling a little hot due to the blazing hot ball of fire we call the sun. :) Yes, for once I have a little colour in my cheeks, because I decided to lay in the sun for about an hour at the cottage. Yay! :D
I slept the majority of the way up and back (which means I still don't know how to get there, really :P), but got up there in high spirits and saw all my cousins and settled in. The first evening there (well, rather quickly, actually) I discovered that my little nieces and nephews were all anime fans - well, all Inu-Yasha, mostly. Emma has been reading Chobits (!) and so had a few Chii posters on the wall, as well as an incredible drawing skill. If she can keep drawing, her "Story of 98" (a story about robots, of course I want to hear more!) will be awesome. ^_^
We all fell asleep fairly early on Friday night (if 10-11 is early :P) and didn't wake up until 10:30 in the morning (which was bizarrely late - typically the kids will be up much earlier and ultimately end up waking up the rest of the cottage making a racket). Dad had got a fishfinder for his birthday and so he was out really early in the morning trying it out, trying to catch some fish. He was having a whale of a time with it.
(As an aside, a fishfinder is one piece of technology I cannot understand. The data that scrolled across the screen was unintelligable to me. O.o)
The kids, upon me showing them a picture from an Inu-Yasha movie, were glued to my Newtypes for the better half of the afternoon. XD We also went swimming mid-afternoon, which had people coming-and-going for about 2 hours or so, but I went in (after a few seconds of a full-body splash, the water was quite warm, actually - according to Dad's new toy, 72F) and relaxed in the lake. And it was soooo relaxing. :D I also lay down a bit, which is where my aforementioned redness/tan is from at the moment. :P
The mosquitoes were out in full force this weekend. :P Reminder to self: Bring more repellant.
Most of the time, the children were rather kept to themselves. This is nice, since last year I remember they were very curious and kept bothering their parents. They were playing Mad Libs, dancing to the Shrek 2 soundtrack (Livin' La Vida Loca by Puss in Boots and Donkey, and Funkytown, mostly), and drawing and generally being kids.
Last night is "oldies night" on the radio, so the Adults were all listening to the radio after the children were put to bed, and they were dancing to a few songs from the 60's and 70's. (Which reminds me, I need to send them the Come Together music video.)
This morning, after having a light breakfast, the kids went tubing and so I went with them and scouted, or whatever that term is that makes sure they're still in the tube. :P I didn't want to go initially, but wanted to once we got out there, but unfortunately we were running out of gas for the boat. :( Ah well, next time. :)
I was able to relax so well up there - the cell phone for work didn't work up there. XD I had some calls to deal with when I got home, but nothing that could be fixed by the time I got back. Ah well again.
I also picked up The Storyteller DVD for a song at Wal-Mart ($12!) and I just recently installed a new videocard into my computer (well, it's a used videocard, but it was Kinnon's year-old card, so I grabbed it... it's wicked fast compared to what I had before, and also what I had before had a stuck fan! O.O It probably would've failed soon enough...) I tried out Gish and wow, I can see the difference, it's so much smoother now! :D
Seeing that there's like 50 LJ entires I need to read through, I'm posting this, then maybe posting again with links and quizzes. Sleep well everyone! :D
