Today marks D-Day. Please take a minute today to remember those who were felled in WWII to give us the freedom that we have today.

If you pass a veteran today, be sure to give him a heartfelt salute, or at least a handshake. They put their lives on the line for our continued way of living.

And also, Ronald Reagan passed away last night. He will be remembered, both as an actor and a politician.

Applegeeks has a good little comic about gas prices. XD

I was reading up on Harry Potter stuff, and stopped across Alivan's Wands. However, take a read through the Proper Wand Care page. You can also Win a Wand. :)

I also kinda got engrossed with Kontraband. There's too many games and (lots of not-work-friendly) stuff in there.

And Whittamores predicts that Strawberries will be pickable by the 20th of June. Raspberries will be available in July.

Days like this make me miss my Grandpa even more ;_; he arrived at the beaches two days after d-day.

I'm not sure where my uncle Matt was, he was a pilot and somehow lived through it all. My great aunt Marge (who also passed last summer) was somewhere in England working away, she was always tough. I know my great-grandma was a nurse in England and she was often on the field. My grandma (now a widow) was a secretary, I believe she had the joyful job of informing mother's that their sons were missing in action.

All the seniors on my dad's side of the family were pretty involved. And everyone of them survived. I'm always thankful that they lived and I had the chance to talk with them. But it gets hard now that they're all so old.

Sadly ironic that they can survive a world war but not time.

My two Grandfathers passed away from old age, and not of the war, but they both were a part of it.

My grandmothers (who are both still quite active) were also in the war - one was an ambulance-driver. The next time I see her, I'm going to ask her what it was like back then.

What about the Strawberries? :P

Yes, I think we'll be going and picking raspberries. We'll have to find out who has the largest pot for cooking said raspberries into making jam. ^_^
