Can someone tell me what this means?

"Scotch, Single Malt, Speyside."

I've figured out that Speyside is a location, but I still don't quite get it. Is it one of those things like where they say Wine from a particular vineyard in France is better than others?

And Single Malt... what's the difference between that and the other variations on Scotch?

Single is, as far as I know, just 'one' regular shot of whiskey... A double means two portions in one glass... As I said this is 'as far as I know' ;)

Malt? Malt whiskey?! :D

Ah, I love google. I've wondered about that before, but your question gave me an excuse to look it up. ;-)
According to this site called Malt Madness: "Single malt whisky is the product from a single distillery, which has not been blended with any other whiskies." This also implies that it's fermented from malt only, with no other grains in the mix. (Apparently whisky comes in "grain", "malt", and "single malt".)
And yes, diehard fans regard Scotch from a particular region or distillery very much the way some people regard wine from a particular region or vineyard.
