*weeps* Saikano is sooo goood....
So, as it turns out, I had missed a vital step (of one button) of Servo's instructions that turns my Clairtone into an All-Region DVD Player. ^_^ Thanks, Kev! Now I don't need to do any more hunting for a DVD player. ^_^ (I still really don't know what that "Intro" button does, short of "it helps you enter the code to make it region-free", but I guess I'll figure it out soon enough.)
So, now that I've got the first disc of Saikano and I've watched through it with the English subtitles on, I have to say they're pretty good. Fairly easy to read, no errors that I noticed, and a couple of liberties taken with the script (from what I remember of the digisubs and my scarce knowledge of the .jp language), but still comprehensible.
No honorifics are used, so "Shu-chan" comes out as "Shuji" every time, but as long as you're listening, you catch the majority of the things they might have left out to keep the script easy-to-read. Little things like "Aho" (Stupid) at the beginning of a sentence. I don't think Shuji said "This is bullshit" in the original at any time XD
They also managed to keep the emotion, which is partially part of the animation, but the script is fairly good. ^_^
