...I pity those teenagers who wander the strets at 6:30 in the morning making noise and trying to stir shit up.
Fuck, no I don't. XD They're immature troublemakers.
Hm. No police patrols on a Sunday morning in downtown. You would figure that they would be patrolling the area, considering that there was a shooting/killing in front of my workplace building not a month ago, during the Caribana.
Thankfully, the two kids (truly -- they wore their baseball caps sideways... that's soooo ghetto. Too bad the ghetto isn't in the rainbow district) didn't bother trying to bug me for more than a few seconds. But strangely enough, I didn't hear any screaming and yelling from the area afterwards. *shrug*
Anyhow, yesterday.
So, after work, I ended up leaving around 2:35 or so (pretty rare for me to leave on-time, as it were - Javier always wants to talk about ideas) and drove over to Festival Hall to where Neil Gaiman was signing. I went up to the third floor and noticed this line that winded through most of the bookshelves along the wall. "This must be it", I thought, and followed the line, looking for Kevin and Phil. I happened to find them and Jen and Roupen, who were pretty close to the front of the line. Kevin and Phil had been there for almost 2 hours beforehand, and they were maybe 50 people back, and they were done. I greeted them, then went to the back of the line.
I was greted by 2 people who said they had closed off the line 5 minutes before.
DAMN! So I scuffle my feet back over to the front of the line and talk with Phil and Kev. Jen was still in the line, and there was a limit of 2 books a person could get signed (aside from his newest books, Coraline and Wolves in the Walls, those were unlimited). Jen only had one "other" book, so she accepted Ysa's book and got that signed.
Then, there was the other one. We decided to look down the line and see if we could find someone willing to get Saku's book signed. There was this nice woman about 8 people from the front of the line with 3 copies of Wolves in the Walls and we struck up a conversation with her. Turns out she was from Virginia for TorCon and had all her books back home. ;_;
But, she gladly took Saku's book (I had written a note in it for your name, Saku) because she saw Kevin take Roupen's book and get it signed so that he could run to catch a train. So nice!!
The only stipulation was that I took a look at her cardgame, Showbiz Shuffle. She handed us a deck of cards that had a number of caricuatures of famous actors on it and we looked at them. The game has you making a movie with certain actors, effects, stunts, animals, etc - and the objective is to have the most successful movie. It looked awesome, so I decided to pick up a deck.
So, I got the books signed, and I bought a cool card game in the process. All's good. ^_^
Following that, I helped Emily move her stuff to her new apartment. There's lots of stuff. O.o They'll manage to sort it all out. Yesterday we were sitting on the built-in seats and various boxes. XD We tore into chicken (literally), too. Mmm, sustenance. =^_^=
*looks at Review for Showbiz Shuffle* Ooh, I want to pick up a copy of Twitch now. ^_^
EDIT: The rumours, they are a-flyin' now. I've just revisted the AIBO websites I frequented, and there's talks of new stuff happening. There's a teaser on the US AIBO site, and apparently last night's chat on AIBO-Life.com had TeaserPet (the guy who works in tandem with Sony) show something to the chatters and they're sworn to secrecy. *sigh*
