I'm prety sure I still have a recorded copy of Robosapiens from TLC somewhere... I was reading this article (because I was looking for info on the SDR4X - yes, I'm obsessed, thanks for asking) and I was reminded of it.
They were talking about how ASIMO is not autonomous - it's remotely controlled by two people, but it handles its own balance and such.
This reminded me of a scene from the Robosapiens tape, where they had a worker robot carrying a flat panel of wood with a human, and was trying to sidestep... and fell sideways. You should've SEEN how fast the workers ran to it to check for any damage. If they were any faster I bet they would've placed themselves between the robot and the floor, not even thinking about the weight of the robot. O.o
*tries to find the Robot at RoboDex that looked like a Patlabor unit*... strangely enough I think the design was by the guy who made Patlabor... XD
Here we are, the HRP-2.
I found a website where someone compared the SDR4X's physical look to a Boomer from Bubblegum Crisis 2040. XD
This montage of RoboDex 2003 is pretty cool. It reminds me why there seems to be a lot of humanoid-shaped robots - Japan's Ministry of International Trade and Industry made general-purpose humanoid robots a national research focus several years ago. Sw33t.
Whoops, my leg's fallen asleep. -_-;;
