Hormel (makers of Spam luncheon meat) has taken SpamArrest to court. I thought they said "It's alright to refer to spam in the lower case to refer to the junk e-mails and SPAM as the company product." But obviously, being North America, everyone is backpedalling and suing each other. How immature.
Quote for the Official Website:
We do not object to use of this slang term to describe UCE, although we do object to the use of the word "spam" as a trademark and to the use of our product image in association with that term. Also, if the term is to be used, it should be used in all lower-case letters to distinguish it from our trademark SPAM, which should be used with all uppercase letters.
I don't see any meat or meat-related products on SpamArrest's website...
...Although this is a nice little press release. Quote:
"Hormel is acting like a corporate crybaby and ought to can it," said Brian Cartmell, President and CEO of SpamArrest LLC.
