My sister's hard drive is okay - it's just the computer that doesn't seem to be working. Maybe something fell loose. Ah well, it doesn't matter much - I took her old compy home last night and between that, TOPL, and sleep, I've got her old hard drive (3GB! Yikes!) almost up to full-functionality on that newer compy (with a 20GB hard drive, and I'll give her the old 30GB I won't need anymore once I've got my new drive in). I think it'll be finished tonight. :D

TOPL yesterday was held at another person's house, as they usually are. This must be the guy who mentioned he had about 25 pins. *blinks* About 25 pins working, yes... everywhere you looked in the basement, there were these giant boxes... which after many double-takes, I discovered they were pinball machines, folded-up. He had three machines in his 'shop', which is like a regular person's workshop, only dominated with three in-repair systems. Incredible.

Anyhow, the games we played this week were The Simpsons (again, and I still didn't do well), Big Flipper (an older machine with gigantic flippers, as its name implies... I TILTed it way too much), Flash Gordon, and Nugent (which I kept calling "Nougat", and did incredibly well on it). I think I scored an 8 last night (as opposed to a 9 or 10).

Other games I was fascinated by were Dr. Dude and his eXcellent Ray (silly game, but fun and lots of targets), Party Zone (it's fun - right in the center is "Captain B. Zarr", who watches the ball as it careens around - a nice touch).

...And then there's this awesome game called Safecracker. I had heard about this game and its mystical "tokens", but never actually seen it until last night. The premise is that you are trying to break into a bank protected by an ultra-high-tech security system (with a sexy female voice, I might add). Instead of having a set number of balls, you have an unlimited number of balls and a time limit. once the timer runs out, it's in "Sudden Death" and draining the ball at that point ends your game.

Take a look at the backglass - Once you've broken your way into the bank (through one of three entrances), you play a video-mode where you spin a video combination lock to advance towards the vault, and the guard rolls a die in an attempt to catch you. There's good and bad spaces to land on, and obviously bad spots all kick you out of the board game. It's a great little game built into a pinball.

Now, do you see the little slot underneath the combination lock, ner the bottom? Once you've broken your way into the vault, the slot spits a token out at you, which rolls right down the glass (and will smack you in the crotch if you aren't paying attention)! There are 2 different designs on the tokens, making them collector's items, and since Safecracker is the only game that uses them, they're kinda hard to find.

Furthermore, once you acquire a token, you can insert it back into the game for a special mode called "Assault on the Vault". So aside from getting a token for breaking into the Vault initially, you also get a second minigame - which is a lot of fun.

No TOPL next week, due to the Victoria Day holiday. Perfect timing! I wouldn't have been able to make it anyhow. :) 3 1/2 days! :D

A typical Pisces, you have your head in the clouds.
You're self-sacrificing and a bit too passive to stand up to the dark side.

First things first, but not necessarily in that order.
- Dr. Who's Rule

Manipulation of the Media in this week's Doctor Who (on the CBC, I'm a week behind our BBC bretheren). For some reason that entire episode had me all tense. It might have been the "spike" that freaked me out, or perhaps it was just the media angle of it all.

So I got Seanna her new compy all up and running. She's as pleased as punch. (Whatever that term actually means, I do not know. :P)

So now comes my installation of my 160GB drive.

Er, 128GB drive, apparently. Well, 128GB according to Win2k-tan.

So Windows 2000 doesn't accept drives larger than 128GB unless an "LBA" registry entry is added (after confirming that the BIOS can support it, as well). After a call to ASUS and being put on hold for 15 minutes, I do a Google search for the motherboard and 48-bit LBA, and yes, ASUS' website states it does after a certain BIOS revision number.

I find it highly irritating that I couldn't use ASUS' own website search for support or even for my own motherboard as it was borked, and yet, I'm able to find the info on ASUS' website through a Google search. *sigh*

Well, pressing on and whatnot. Wish me luck.

I've found that I'll misspell words very often and I can't seem to get myself to correct them on the first try. Words like "angle" come out as "angel" and "later" becomes "alter".
