It's been a long weekend, and I'm partially glad it's over. I'm also partially sad because it's always such a great time I spend there, amidst all fellow geeks. XD
Let's see what I did.
Friday, I was planning to go paint for a bit before going to meet up at CNAnime to set up the retail both, but I got called in early, so I headed down and started setting up the manga. (It's interesting that every year I do the manga, but I'm not an avid reader. No worries, tho, it's still fun. :D) I went and got my
Lain and
Haibane Renmei boxsets signed by Yoshitoshi ABe and Yasuyuki Ueda, and they both doodled on the boxes! :D
Saturday, I was wandering a lot. :P Sorry, guys! I went to see ABe-san and Ueda-san's Q&A, wandered a bit in the dealer's room (with no real aim, aside from trying to find a
Haibane Renmei artbook. Reminder to self: When a popular artist is coming to a con, try to find the artbooks
before the con, because they'll be gone within a few minutes of opening...) I ended up grabbing a
Haibane Renmei wallscroll, and stopping by
Scott's booth and requesting a sketch of Aeris as Lain. So original. :P (Actually, it might've been, he had trouble drawing the braid, but he had that Lain pose down!) I also got word that, aside from him selling out of Large Shirts hella fast, that he's planning to have the Print Shop open again in November. So I told him I'll be one of the first to pick up a "Resident Evil: Toronto" print, once he gets it running. :)
Saturday was also home to the power outage. XD It felt very Toronto, very Anime North. It's a curse, I tell ya. Thankfully, our booth is close to the windows so we were ok - but in the back it was pretty dark. Apparently, a curious raccoon got into the transformer, and as Ryan's friend put it - crack fizzz BANG...
Sunday, I got a print signed by ABe-san and Ueda-san for Kevin (the lineup was so much lighter on Friday! I wonder why...), and picked up all the stuff I was looking for: Kino's Journey 3 & 4, Komugi, Zim 2, Saikano 2 (Also found 3 elsewhere!), and 4 mangas: XXXholic 1 & 2 (I want to see this crossover stuff!), Megatokyo 2, and Saikano 1 (I'm such a sucker for the depressing stuff! XD Totally unrelated, but I decided not to get
Cosplay Complex just yet. :P)
Anime cons are my Hallowe'en. I get home and I say to myself "Let's see what I scored this year"... XD
They're expanding
again next year! So it'll be 5 cons in one - the Gamer's Expo - "GX" - will be there next year. And the dealer's room is expanding into the next hall over... it's gonna be HUGE.
Servo stayed over for the weekend, and I re-introduced him to
Futurama. I've got a convert ;)
I'm starting to get excited about my condo now. Eeee! :D
Eeeps. I've got 100 LJ entries to get through. :P I think a good deal of them are part of the
ilovebees game, tho...
Matt Dusk ("Two Shots of Happy") is the special guest star on Canadian Idol this week (Wednesday and Thursday). Thought a couple of Idol fans might want to know. ;)
Annnnnd...
( Memes! )... woah. I have to stop reading entries. I just hit a long post and my mind went "...no." Sorry, I'll catch up soon! I'm finishing the painting tomorrow, and maybe touchups on Thursday at the latest. Mom helped today, which was nice - while we had to paint the doors, we had to keep them open, otherwise they paint shut. So Mom unlocked the doors and stuck around, and so we worked together on painting the place. Which reminds me... *edits Painting List* I can't wait for that to be done, I'm very tired of painting.
