Can someone tell me what this means?

"Scotch, Single Malt, Speyside."

I've figured out that Speyside is a location, but I still don't quite get it. Is it one of those things like where they say Wine from a particular vineyard in France is better than others?

And Single Malt... what's the difference between that and the other variations on Scotch?
