News articles from today that I caught:
Check your change. There's a $1-million bounty placed on a rare American nickel.
Ok, well, this really isn't a news entry, but here's a H2G2 entry on what it means to "Live Fast, Die Young, and leave a Good-Looking Corpse"...
A little while ago, I picked up Steel Angel Kurumi, and there is a very interesting Japanese Tradition of the Onmyou Dou (Onmyou Way). I should look into this more; the Extra on the first DVD gives a great wealth of information.
A quiz is enclosed within....
From the Steel Angel Kurumi DVD, Volume 1:
Onmyou (or literally Yin-Yang) explains the universe in terms of the five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. All change in the universe can be traced back to the interworkings of these five elements (as they either produce or overcome one another) and the opposing forces of yin and yang. In this way all aspects of life are interconnected and an Onmyou master can use his skills to both see the future (through divination) and command the elements (through incantations and spells).
[...]
Yin and yang always appear together and cannot be seperated into distinct forces, as each both produces and defeats the other continually.
[...]
The interaction of the five elements is another manifestation of the yin-yang dynamic. Wood, fire, earth, metal and water all equally produce and destroy each other in a cyclical nature.
Wood generates Fire (fire was generated by rubbing wood on wood.)
Fire creates Earth (Burning generates ashes, which is earth.)
Earth creates Metal (Metal ore is mined from the earth.)
Metal creates Water (When humidity is high, water often condenses and forms droplets on metal)
Water creates Wood (All plants require water to live.)
Inversely:
Wood destroys Earth (Plants spread their roots, invading/disintegrating/binding the soil.)
Earth destroys Water (Earth blocks and dams water.)
Water destroys Fire (Water extinguishes fire.)
Fire destroys Metal (Fire can melt and shape metal.)
Metal Destroys Wood (An axe or saw can fell a tree.)
This was ultimately brought up because of the Enneagram that Chris and Ysabet talked about last night.

The committed, security-oriented type. Sixes are reliable, hard-working, responsible, and trustworthy. Excellent "troubleshooters," they foresee problems and foster cooperation, but can also become defensive, evasive, and anxious -- running on stress while complaining about it. They can be cautious and indecisive, but also reactive, defiant and rebellious. They typically have problems with self-doubt and suspicion. At their Best: internally stable and self-reliant, courageously championing themselves and others.
Now I have two quotes for my life:
"The important thing is to not stop questioning." -Albert Einstein
"Find a job you love and you never have to work a day in your life." -Confucious
I'm not working tomorrow, so that I can go into the station on the final day of building (on Friday). Hopefully it won't be for naught. I'm going to see Servo, Chris, Ysabet, and later Emily (once she gets off work) and we're all going to see X2. Finally! XD
*goes and looks for Kiddy Grade on Kazaa* I picked up the newest Newtype today, now I'm intruiged by this series...
I've got the CGNU Dumples song going through my head... well, at least it's not JPEG Baby. ^_^ (Go for the 8-track!)
