So, if you're looking for my thoughts on SOPA, well, it's already been shelved (temporarily) so my words are fairly out-of-date, but Yeah, it's bad, PIPA's bad, ACTA's bad, C-11 in Canada's bad, mmmkay?

In any case, the real reason I wanted to step up and say something was mainly because if SOPA or any of these Online Piracy Acts, YouTube would not be processing 60 hours of content every minute, and footage like this insane slice of nostalgia wouldn't be up on the internet:

Dude. What a strange concept to air more Hanna-Barbera cartoons, and this came out only 5 years after Johnny-5 was on the big screen.

Factoid: D.E.C.K.S.' voice is Rob Paulsen, who also voiced Yakko Warner amongst so many others. It's fairly recognizable to me now.

Holy cow XD; So... SO EIGHTIES

Y'know, Lemon Demon has a song, Nightmare Fuel, and one of the lines is "robots with human eyes"... the liner notes said he couldn't think of an example for that one, but he figured it would probably be creepy... I think we've found an example XD;;

Also, geez, I just realised that the intro theme has somebody saying "get-uppa", as though the song originally sampled James Brown and then the producers panicked at the last minute XD

I was gonna ask "I wonder what happened to that kid" -- but shoot, the youtube comments say he was the voice of Kit Cloudkicker XD I assumed Kit was played by a woman!

Was this something you had seen yourself? I'm pretty sure I didn't even know it existed until now...

I kinda like the effect of DECKS' hair being a spool of videotape. It has that cartoonish feel which is actually pretty cool.

I remember the theme song from the minute it started, and I remember the bouncing clock animation, though since the theme music fades right into the episode's music, it mashes with my own memories which had a different episode with a more mellow tune. However, I had completely forgotten about the hosts (DECKS and pre-Cloudkicker) but I didn't even remember it was a "cartoon" show. Wiki says it was on the Disney Channel, but I don't remember watching (or if Canada even had) the Disney Channel when I was a youngster.

I also definitely didn't remember the hosts being so tubular or radical. They were trying way too hard. ^^

Y'know, I wanna say that I found the bouncing clock familiar too, but I DEFINITELY don't remember the robot, so... who knows :X Maybe they let other people use the animation? XD CG was expensive back then ;p

And, heh, yeah XD Stuff for kids always seems to lay it on thick :P I guess that's what it takes to keep their attention?

Maybe that clock was one of those generic "Video Toaster" animations?

What's really weird is that I remember the background "yeah, whooo" following the lyrics "rise and shine, you sleepyhead"... the song was catchy enough that it got stuck in my subconscious.

Hm, this song would be a good alarm clock ringtone ;)

I watched this show EVERY morning and it made a huge impression on me (I mean, yeah, it's got a Surfer VHS robot). At least, it made a huge impression on my subconcious because I hadn't even thought about it in decades until I saw this post. Holy, HOLY shit.

I even, somehow, had the theme memorized.

I've come to realize that a lot of live-action kid's morning TV shows had a lot of robots... it's definitely made an impression on me, too. I still remember an old CBC show called Switchback that had a robot sponsored by Arby's (and was called, unoriginally, "RB"), and his "nose" was a video camera so he could wander the set and they would sometimes switch to "RB Cam". And who can forget Conky 2000?

I wonder how difficult it must be to create characters like that. I mean, DECKS looks like he's got a lot of movable parts just in his face. I wonder if they did the Henson thing and stuffed a guy in the giant square frame and wheeled him about with remote-control.
