Today was probably the quietest and yet busiest Sunday I've been working at COBS so far. As it stands, it was supposed to be a rainy day today, so they had cut back on their production counts, only to have the clouds hold-off until after closing time, so when people were coming in around 2:00, we were actually starting to run out of selections!
We also had left the door open as it was fairly cool out today. It invited a few flies in, but the Big Bug of the Day was a Dragonfly that was roughly the size and length of my finger. It kinda surprised those of us at the front, and when it zipped about and tried to get out, it hit every glass panel, including the closed door, but managed to avoid the open door. XD I tried to direct it towards the door, and I was holding a "waxy" (essentially a piece of wax paper) to shoo him around a corner and out the door until finally, he crawled onto the waxy itself. After he had been hitting his head on the glass over and over (he reminded me of The Bee in Bee Movie going "this time I'll get through, this time, this time, this time") he looked dazed, but since I managed to get outside with the dragonfly-covered waxy, he flew right off. I never expected to see that at the mall location, but at the same time, there's a creek right across the parking lot where about two dozen Canada Geese like to land every day. I would not be surprised if they started to venture into the parking lot and eventually into any open door that's nearby. XD
I'm also going to note that
sierralad and
auraus are awesome. They happened to be in the area (nowhere close to where they actually live) and so they popped in to say hi! I was completely stunned to see them there today. It was totally unexpected and it put such a smile on my face!
What I really like about working with these teams is that they work like a well-oiled machine. Everyone knows what needs to be done and what takes priority. It doesn't take much managing to run a store - which is a downside to me, since I'm trying to learn - but it still makes it feel very easy to run and yet there's plenty of things to do on a daily basis. The place was very clean when I left this afternoon. :P
Well, there goes that thunderstorm that should've come earlier today. Just like they say, being a meteorologist must be an easy position since you can be wrong a lot and make lots of guesses, and still keep your job. :P
