I've got a little bit of a problem with my TV and the Wii. As in, I can't use my Wii at all. Or maybe, the TV's starting to give-out. :(

I've also recently been seeing some problems with the TV. It's a Samsung 40" LCD TV, and I've had it for... I guess maybe 4 years now? (3 years, 9 months, it seems.) So maybe it's starting to get finicky. Over the past couple of weeks, there have been times when the TV will flicker out for a second and come back up. But it would only do that once, and then not do it again for that session.

However, I've been seeing problems with the Wii for a long time - it'll quickly lock up if I leave it in the "sleep" mode (yellow light), and the Mii Channel gets "corrupted" if I visit it when it's in this state, which I think is a heat issue since if I take it away from the cubbyhole it's in, it works fine and the Mii Channel has no problems.

Today, I wanted to play some Elebits, and I booted up everything, and it was all good until I got to the Wii Menu, when the TV would blink out, as if it was changing its source, then come back up, for a fraction of a second, then blink out again, and I couldn't even get control of the TV until I turned the Wii off so that the signal was offline.

The fact that the Wii Menu seemed to cause it problems but the warning screen beforehand leads me to believe that maybe it was a video (TV) issue. I just fired up the Xbox360 to see if it had the same problem - and it blinked out for a moment when the startup screen was done but it was fine otherwise. I rebooted the Xbox and it didn't have the issue the second time, and I went back to the Wii for a second try and it didn't blink-out at all. I wonder if it has something to do with switching from an almost-all-white screen to black or vice-versa. I'll also note here that we have had the connection to the Mac Mini also blink-out a couple of times, but it hasn't happened today.

Thoughts on what I should do? I'm planning on testing the Wii on another screen to see if it works or if it's losing its hold or something, but the way that video problem's come up, I wonder if something in the TV's starting to blow. (And for that, I have a few local friends who might be able to peer into it for me. ^^)
