Well, I'm going to be going on a little vacation. It couldn't come at a better time - I need some time away from work. Due to the way my schedule works, I'm taking 2 days off and I have from tomorrow (Monday) to next Sunday off. Then, on the following week, Summer Hours kick in, giving me 4 days off, and I took the final day of the five to give myself another full week off!
Christine and I are heading out to my parent's cottage this week, where there's still electricity, but there's barely any internet. We're talking dial-up levels of "Rocket Stick" power here, people. So I will be totally offline for a week. Now, behave, everyone! ;P
E3 was on this week. Here's what I noted:
- Kinect Minecraft? Curious but not that interested. I never got into Minecraft, but then again, I don't think I'd have the time.
- Once Upon a Monster. I want it more for myself than I really should, but I bet my little nephews would love it! I mean, it's a game that's going to bridge age groups. :)
- Halo 4. Nope. I never was a Halo fan, so I'll pass.
- Mass Effect 3? Let me finish the first one and get through the second one! Then I'll look into ME3. :P
- Dance Central 2. Yes Please. :D Looking forward to that, and they say in the trailer they have the importing option that I was hoping for. :D
- Steel Battallion with the Kinect Controller? The lack of precision will totally kill the immersive experience. How can you possibly get 200+ buttons into the Kinect screen? I would prefer the original controller, but that's a costly expense for one game. (Then again, right now Dance Central is my One Game for the Kinect.)
- Bioshock Infinite. I want this one a LOT more than the first two, mainly because I'd love to see the game set in a world high up in the air. That SkyHook rail system also looks sweet!
- For the 3DS, Luigi's Mansion 2 looks fun, and so did Kid Icarus: Uprising. I'm still not sold on the 3DS just yet, despite seeing it at Best Buy recently. The 3D is really neat!
- Speaking of "I'll wait a bit", I don't know what to think about the WiiU. Yes, it's just as innovative as the Wii Remote was, and they're promising a lot of different things (including being able to play on the New uPad Controller, without a TV), but since they really didn't talk about games, I'll wait a bit to see what developers create with it. It's a Nintendo product and I'll likely get it, but I'm not all "OMG MUST BUY DAY ONE" as I was with the Wii.
I find it very funny that my Twitter feed went nuts on Day One of E3. Can you tell I follow gamers? XD (And also to note that I'd have "WOO DISNEYWORLD" followed immediately by "Disneyworld in Second Life. Pass." from different people. I seem to have quite a variety of gamers, and their opinions. XD)
Anyone seen the trailer for the LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean? It looks silly fun, and that seems to be what Traveller's Tales does best. :)
Here's a game I discovered recently on the [Adult Swim] website: Cardboard Box Assembler! It's actually more fun than it sounds. It reminds me a bit of N+ in its style, but it's definitely a cube-ish puzzler.
Here's a couple of links that have been sitting on my computers for quite some time!
- Here are some photos from Six Flags New Orleans. Abandoned before Hurricane Katrina, you can see how far the environment has crumbled, and how much of the vegetation has started to reclaim the land. The pictures come from a couple of different photographers, and some of those photos are just so artistic. :)
- Speaking of abandoned structures, check out these 25 Abandoned Soviet Structures in Yugoslavia. They look beautiful. Sadly, following down into the comments on this post and the post they linked from, and you'll notice that this kinda opened some sores due to the history behind the monuments. I've taken to stop reading comments on any articles aside from LJ and a few places I know would be "safe". No newspapers, no Youtube (with the silly video exceptions)... but the pictures themselves make me want to see them in-person.
- From
fpelayo: PR2 "Human" robot tries to make cookie dough. Some day I'm sure that robots will be able to make cookies on-par with people at home -- until then, I guess we'll have to deal with making them ourselves, or purchasing them from GIANT robots. ^^
- Dramatic Readings of boring material is always awesome. Case in point, here's Richard Dreyfuss making a dramatic reading of the Apple iTunes EULA.
- And finally, via Christine (
musicgeekstress) using StumbleUpon, she found this awesome collection of photos of a bird making a mudnest on their windowsill. I'm kinda wondering if this meant that the photographer would've been able to see inside the nest on the other side! ^^
(Curses! I forgot about the Layton-Donut photoshoot again. :\)
Alright, now remember what I said - no funny stuff, people. ;)
