So I got another unsolicited e-mail asking if I could sell my baked goods in larger quantities to bigger stores through this "catalogue" business. Since the e-mail was incredibly similar to ones which I've reported on this before (when they were called IntoStores and WiseRep, I may as well report on it again, in case anyone goes looking for "SellBeyond".
I went searching around, and just the same as I did when I looked into IntoStores, I found lots of people questioning the legitimacy of the company. I actually signed-up for this website only to reply to this question, but my post was eaten. :( In any case, I noticed that SellBeyond's address is still pretty close to where WiseRep and IntoStores was, and Googling the address brings up a UPS Store, so their "address" is not really an office, but I guess a P.O. Box.
Craftdom did a little sleuthing on the SellBeyond website themselves!
Plus, since I looked at my old post, I figured I should check the meta tags for SellBehyond's website again. Surprise, surprise! These are the EXACT SAME meta words that I found, with sellbeyond instead of wiserep.
<meta name="keywords" content="Internet shopping site,Mail order catalog companies,Manufacturer directory,Markets with variety of items,Nations top retailers,Offer company directory,Online store,Specialty retailers,Lead wholesale marketplace,Network of wholesale and retailers,Wholesalers and retailers connected,The world largest stores,Trade lead USA,Wholesale,Wholesale directory with the real wholesalers,Wholesale industry,Wholesale merchandise,Wholesale product,where stores come to find products,The website for wholesaler,Help you sell,Home shopping network,sellbeyond.com, sell beyond, sellbeyond">
And yeah, I wasn't about to pay $200 up-front with a $20 monthly fee to "showcase" my work. If they wanted to be legitimate, they should be looking to their corporations to pay them for access to the smaller businesses. But, since they've tried this twice with different companies, I get this feeling they're still, sadly, "successful" in scamming people. (And if they did scam corporations, they'd be sued into the ground.)
Final note: They have a little set of LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and some other social networking icons at the lower-right. I noticed that they don't actually go anywhere!
