This has been a rather relaxing weekend, for once. Not much going on for me, so I've been chilling. I had a chance to talk with our mailman a week or so ago, and he's got the nickname "Chatty Cathy" with good reason. In any case, he's been baking for people, too, and so we got to talking, and he said he'd bring me some recipes. There was an envelope left for us labeled "Apt 1104, From Mailman" that has a collection of recipes from Chocolate Ganache to Red Velvet Cake to a simple White Cake that I had to try (seeing that my cake seems to be a little... dense). I made it up last night and it was a pretty good result! I have to thank him somehow - the tricky thing is running into him due to our work schedules. I'm gonna make him some cookies as a thank-you at least. :)
This morning, I finally got around to watching this "Nimmo Bay Experience" video. It's a 3D video, so you can pan around the video while it runs.
It brought me to tears.
Yeah, I'm a softie. But I watch that video and I have this thought that this is most likely the closest that I'm going to get to actually experiencing it, short of a large windfall of money or the ability to fly. (I'm also a little touched and honoured to see such a video, to let us experience it from the comfort of our home.)
I've had a bit of a down-day and a downer-day as well. I haven't felt really that relaxed, and when I try to relax and do nothing, I feel that I need to be doing something. It's a horrible cycle that I've been trying to break ever since I decided to take more "me time" and not focus so heavily on the Bakery. Leaving me with my thoughts seems to be a dangerous prospect, though. I think too much.
I gotta wake up early tomorrow so I'll likely get myself to bed early, too. Maybe I'll stay up in bed with the laptop for awhile. You know, I miss chatting with people. I'll try to chat with whomever's online when I see you, because I miss that connection.
Anyhow, here's a few links that I wish to share with you all:
- 10 Quotent Quotables from the stepping-down CEO of Google. Some of them are a little foreboding for the future. I still like them - for what I know, I'm confident in their security; I'm certain that if something were to change, the Internet community at large would put them on the straight and narrow.
- FoodGawker. There are some seriously tasty-looking foods on their pages there, and they all link to recipes. This could be dangerous for someone like me :P
- I don't drink often, but I'm tempted to want to try these Portal Drinks - particularly the Teleportation Shooters and GlaDOS drinks.

travisuped, he found a Handwritten Kanji Search - I have no knowledge of what Kanji I would be writing or the stroke order, so it's not very useful to me, but it's pretty damn awesome! I had been looking for something like this since I can't translate graphical images with Hiragana/Katakana/Kanji, so this is a step in the right direction. :) (Speaking of the Japanese language, I'm thinking that I may want to start learning it again, if only so that I can understand the tweets of certain Japanese Twitterers, without having to use Machine Translation.)
- After discovering DeadMau5 is a Toronto-based DJ, and loving what I've heard so far from DJHero 2 and on Youtube Clips (go figure, he was at MuchMusic a few short weeks ago!), it's something on my to-do list.
- Also on my to-do list is to visit the Galapagos islands, if only to hang out with a tortoise. A Quirks and Quarks episode from last September (I've been listening to podcasts in the car) talked about how tortoises will come up to humans to "ask" to be itched where they can't scratched. I think I could be very satisfied in my life if I could hear a sigh of a tortoise from me giving it skritches. ^^
Anyhow, gotta work in the morning, so I'd best turn in for the evening. 'Nite!
