So, over the past 32 hours I've been up to my parents' cottage and back. ^^

My Dad asked me about a week ago if I could help him with a few chores around the cottage - he's taken down the deck and he wanted me to help dig some holes in preparation of the new deck design. So we decided to go up right after work (3:30 yesterday) and get to work. We actually got in, made a call to say we got up fine, and went right to it, around 6:30 at night. Thankfully it was still light out. We dug 10 holes in the dirt and set up the granite slabs.

We rested for the rest of the night, but Dad had another project he wanted to do the following day (today), which was to retile the kitchen. He got these really neat "sticky" tiles that connected to each other, and my Dad, never one to waste time, made sure that we got up at a reasonable hour, and started at 8 in the morning. Thankfully I got up earlier and had breakfast and was all well-rested, otherwise I wouldn't have wanted to do it. But we did it! And did it in 7 hours o.o So the entire day, we were placing tiles, cutting the tiles to fit the edges, and really only took a quick lunchbreak of eating hotdogs around the stove. XD And then, once we were done, we cleaned up, packed up, and were on our way home, and I got back at 6:30 tonight.

I am exhausted, I may have gotten a little bit of sun while shoveling outside, and my knees will be screaming in pain tomorrow, but I hope I won't be in not-so-much pain tomorrow for Mother's Day luncheons and visits. :)

It was incredibly satisfying to get it done, though. The new kitchen floor looks so incredible (was ridiculously easier than I thought it would be) I'm tempted to finally retile my own kitchen, and when that deck goes up, I'll be very happy to say I played some part in the work. :)

And of all things, it snowed while we were up there! Hi, Mother Nature? Last I checked, it's May now. I'm thankful for the fourth snowfall of the year, but um... it's May.
