A couple more privacy-related stories for y'all:

Google's Street View is capturing more than just images. I had a suspicion when the 3D-View was added recently, meaning that they had retained 3D imaging on top of the static 2D images. Apparently they also captured MAC Addresses (something used to identify specific computers) and WLAN Addresses, too. Kinda makes me happy to be up 16 stories, they couldn't have grabbed my info from me being that high. (Could they?)

A Security expert gets arrested for refusing to show his ID (which, apparently, is not grounds for arrest) and later, "hacks" his way into discovering that footage that he was told was destroyed was actually still retained, shaming the Seattle Police Department. Impressive story!

Think Twitter is all about 140 characters? Check out just how much information is in a Tweet. I had no idea so much information was stored! But I mean, in these days, Data Gathering is really big...

A lot of the information in a Twitter post seems awfully redundant to have there (such as the entire author information field) - I'm fairly certain that they would have their reasons, but it seems a strange place to put it to me.

Yeah, it is a bit redundant, but I think the idea is that with a simple TweetID, you can determine everything without needing any further digging or cross-references. It is kinda crazy though - have they been collecting this much since the start, or was it just rolled-out...?
