Activision Chief regrets not making Guitar Hero with Harmonix.

Not that surprising, really, but what he says regarding the purchase of RedOctane is surprising. They didn't even seem to consider that Harmonix might've been on to something, and they didn't even visit their offices. They just bought RedOctane and the Guitar Hero franchise. In taking the Guitar Hero franchise from Harmonix's hands and leaving them to EA, they created the biggest Music Game feud in videogame history between them and their own Rock Band, which is still kinda ongoing.

However, Activision did just sack lots of people in companies related to Guitar Hero, having 25 different SKUs this year must've really oversaturated the market. Also interesting to note is that apparently EA's contract with Harmonix (and therefore, Rock Band) ends in a month. What will happen to Harmonix, the Rock Band Network (which hasn't launched yet), and Rock Band 3 is anyone's guess...
