Well, here I am, just waiting for work to finish up, and felt it was only appropriate to write up the day, since well, it was a bit different.
Damn zombies. Buggers were everywhere today, and I had my share of running them down while I was driving about today. Didn't know they could ride bicycles, though. Some zombies just have better motor skills than most, I guess.
Aside from sleeping all day (y'know, overnights and all that) I had headed out to Tiger Direct, since they finally gave me the chip I wanted. Y'know, retail people have to realize that their customers will eventually leave if they're not offered what they want, and I had almost given up. I was on my last day of dealing with them. I told the person at the other end of the line what had happened (it's been two weeks!) and they took my name and number, and said they'd talk with a manager. Within 2 minutes, they called me back and said they had one they could sell me, under a different product code. Armed with this info, I went in.
Ran over another 5 zombies just pulling into the store's parking lot. Store was mysteriously empty and thankfully zombie-free, but I guess everyone was busy fending off their own zombie hordes.
So, I tell them that I had a chip waiting for me, they go and get it, and ring it up - $107 instead of $69. Raised eyebrow and a mention that they said they'd give me the price that I've been waiting for. (Also, mysteriously looked very similar to what happened 2 weeks ago.) Guy walks off, I see him talk to the manager for a bit, and they give me the price. Thank Godd!
I add in a couple of extra liberators since they're so handy, and half-price, and the computer lists them at full price. Erm... wow, I think TigerDirect needs to update their pricing system. Got that at the price listed, too.
Forgot thermal paste. As I remembered too late for the day, I'll get it later. I didn't want to risk any damage to my car, since I had already caught one zombie's arm in a wheelwell and didn't want to scuff the paintjob. Plus, thermal paste squishes easily and I wouldn't want to waste it.
Moral of the story: I'd buy things from them again, but only if it's in stock. I wouldn't have them special-order anything for me again.
After dropping Christine off at her class for the evening (armed with her art and baseball bats, natch) I went over to Victory Cafe for a friendly, non-zombie-infested DS night, of which I was glad to see that the crew had not yet succumbed and were operating at full abilities, though the interior of the cafe was, again, suspiciously empty. I hope we can arrange another one soon! I love those get-togethers. :D
Heh! I just remembered! Christine and I decided to watch Evil Dead II last night. Aside from running them down with the car and kicking them off the balcony today, we found it a little ironic that we had watched that movie last nice, almost too coincidentally - maybe the video of the cassette reciting the words of the Necronomicon had something to do with it? *scratches head* Maybe it was me wearing my "What the F*@K was that" t-shirt (from the Musical) today? I have no-one to blame but myself for that, I didn't mean to do it deliberately! Sorry, Torontonians! I seem to have been spreading devastation for the past couple of weeks. O_o
(I know I'm a day late, but well, the zombies were scaling the condo building, and thus, the reason for kicking them off the balcony and had no time to write while at home. I'm surprised they didn't shrivel up in the sun today. Though, I've already been outside and well, they're not shriveled up - they're melting. Ick. And yet, my scientific part of my mind wants to analyze the zombie-ooze, despite knowing what Resident Evil and Parasite Eve warn me about the dangers of collecting zombie flesh. Here's the latest info on the Zombie Outbreak.)

Man, those liberators look handy o_o I might order me some of those...
And I can't help but wonder if the Tiger Direct pricing system is kept incompetent on purpose, in the hopes that people won't notice or bother complaining when they're overcharged.. maybe they make more money from that than they lose in lost business (or maybe they just assume they do).

I'm not so high on the liberators... You can usually get a really good powerbar (not the cheapass kinds, but the one with real surge protection, and realigned plugs) for fairly cheap at around $30-40. And there won't be a mess of wires either :p
