That's the second time that my fishtank has gotten ICH from new fish! I pay good money to them only for them to kill off my tank!

Anyone know of any GOOD aquarium service stores that maybe pride themselves in having disease-free fish? I don't think I'll be returning to Big Al's, and I'm gonna write a letter. I just don't trust them anymore. I have to admit now PJ's Pet Centre is higher on my list than Big Al's (though Walmart is still WAYYY low on my list for live animals!)

There's a Heroes-related question in YDKJ Episode 4. Go play!

And one of the resident Techies on the CBC website recommends Linux over Windows! :D

I used to work at Petco for a while...everyone who was there actually cared about animals and taking care of them. MY personal problem with working there though was selling animals to people (or kids...) who I knew weren't going to take care of them -_-

it's been a while but I remember enough that ich is like those white dots that you can see on fish. as long as you look at every fish in the tank to make sure none of them have it you should be fine. a lot of those fish diseases are pretty easy to cure though with liquid drops, we usually kept a small bottle of everything just in case.

I never go to Walmart for anything >.>

You might want to check out Menagerie in Cabbagetown (http://www.menageriepetshop.com). They're a mom n pop place and, while I can't speak for their fish, they have a really good reputation when it comes to reptiles.

Ah! The really cool teamer from last semester had fish, and I mentioned your ICH problem. She wants to give you tips. Do you mind if I give her your e-mail?

Man that sucks :(( Dead fishies, no good...

Sure! I've already tried "Super Ick Cure" and I've heard of Aquarium Salt (though have never used it since I have some snails, too), but I wouldn't mind a few tips. I hate ICH, it gets me really frustrated. :(

Wow, their website looks really down-to-earth and nice! I'm really intruiged to take a look, now...

I like that there's weekly updates, too. Saves me a trip if I want a specific type of fish (and sometimes Big Al's never had the exact fishes I wanted)...

Yeah, and that Ich spreads like wildfire in my tank. :( Unfortunately I also have a horrible time with figuring out what size my tank is and I can't be sure that I'm adding the right amount of Malachite Green. If the Ich doesn't kill them, I will... :(

I seem to have a few very resilient fish, tho - the Pleco and Siamese Algae Eater seem to be unaffected while the other fish are totally covered. :|

When I first saw fish being sold at Walmart, I was totally frightened of even purchasing anything... I mean, I wouldn't trust Walmart for anything live...

Someone at work's suggested goldfish. Maybe I should go that route, they'd be nice, big fish and would be colourful...

goldfish are the most disease ridden fish there are =P seriously, if you add more than a few goldfish to a tank you're gonna have to clean the tank like once a week, well, depending on the size of the tank and how many fish anyway...

saltwater fish are awesome, and look really nice. sadly though, saltwater fish of any sort are the hardest to take care of and usually more expensive too =P

well the problem with any fish disease is that it's always gonna spread like that unfortunately =\ I'm really pretty rusty on a lot of the fish care stuff but I know you can also help treat it by slowly changing the water and treating it as you go. you should prolly see what that girl will tell you through e-mail first though

there will always be the super fish though, and most all algae eaters are pretty resiliant

Hey man.
If you need a wii-chuck, they're back in stock at amazon.ca now.

Well they're right around the corner from us, so the next time you visit maybe we can take a walk! I always like going in to browse because they have a lot of pretty birds and lizards.

PS - The easiest fish to take care of is the "stick" kind. :p

The only way fish and I get along is if they're tuna in a can...

And yes, I saw that CBC article. I guess Steve Ballmer is right, if the CBC is recommending them: "Linux is un-American, socialist software!" ^_^

I agree, I had an aquarium myself but remember having most pleasure from my goldfish... Now they -were- really special goldfish ;) Minneapolis used to swim with me in his (big) bowl while I walked trough the room and stuff, it was fun ;)

What about that Lucky Aquarium place near Pacific Mall? We liked a lot of those fish on offer.
