Miss Saigon, Mamma Mia, Les Miserables, The Mousetrap, the Lion King...

:P

Having just returned from New York, though, you're right in that it's nowhere near the same. Even Beauty and the Beast has been there for eight years or so! Phantom, of course, has been there for 18 (in fact, in London on October 9th, they'll be celebrating 20 years). Toronto just isn't as grand and wonderful as we'd like to think. Heck, Erin and I have been half-heartedly toying with the idea of moving to New York; it's just that much better and more vibrant.

However, playing devil's advocate and a member of a union, I didn't like BMG's policies. Another factor could have been the location, which was an area not exactly known for its theatres. Again, in New York, you literally have dozens of major venues all within 2-3 blocks of each other. Here, we've got all of three or four on a one block stretch, but then they're peppered around in non-obvious places (Yonge and Dundas? North York freakin' Centre?!). It's poor planning on the theatre-owners' part. Still, I know how much you love the show. I hope you'll get to see it a few more times (i.e. weekly ^_^).
