Well, I just heard that a game called Unity has been cancelled for the GameCube. What caught my attention were two things: One, it was a collaboration with Peter Molyneux (Fable, Black & White, The Movies), and two, it was a Rhythm-Action Shooter. So I went looking for information on this game, found a couple of screenshots and trippy videos, and then went to the Llamasoft website. The guy's been programming games for ages - since 1982.

I read up on his past and saw his most recent projects - and he mentioned how he basically built GridRunner++ for a PocketPC, then later adaprted it for the Desktop PCs. So I gave it a download.

If you like trippy and frenetic shooters, I'd highly recommend giving GridRunner++ a try. It's a LOT of fun. You really have to pay attention to the creations in the game - such as the Cube, which creates X- and Y-axis shockwaves. ;) And yes, you want to collect the sheepies. (I like that you don't have to hold down a button to fire - it just fires automatically. Use the right-click to release the sheepiezapper, but if you can collect 9 you automatically get a sheepie head.)

And check this!

Molyneux is a flake, dude. He promised all these awesome things for Fable, and then made up bullcrap stories as to why the game didn't have those features. Penny Arcade had a great rant about it, but I'm too lazy to go link-hunting.

I dunno about you, but I found B&W horrible. Aside from the giant tiger who ate his own feces. That was just... odd.

I haven't played Fable or B&W... for some reason the name just catches my attention.

But GridRunner++... great game, and no Molyneux. ;)
