I got rid of TVersity for the Xbox360 because I couldn't get subtitles to work on it. I was reading the TVersity forums to see if I could get them to work (and had done many of their suggestions), and the answer essentially was "PS3 Media Server now works with the XBox 360 too; it just works". So, I install it, and it works even better than TVersity, if I say so myself. It's just so easy and everything looks good, I'm pleased. :)
So, I finally got myself into reading more books. As if I don't have enough things to occupy my time, sitting at work and encoding gives me plenty of time to read. I picked up a few books, and one that I really was eager to read was suggested by Tycho from Penny Arcade - Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment. The story goes along the lines of six kids who have 2% bird DNA in them, giving them ridiculously large, functional wings. Needless to say, they had me at "bird"...
I managed to mainline the last half of the book in 2 days. This is probably the fist book, with the exception of Harry Potter, where I just couldn't put the book down and blew through it like it was air. After reading it, I'm hooked. Aside from the first time of seeing three-page chapters (making it a breeze to read) the story was fast-paced the entire way through. I also, after checking out the Maximum Ride site, discovered that this is only the first in a series of 6 (so far) books, and two manga adaptations. Wow, I'm behind the times. (I'm highly amused that the MaxRide characters also all have their own blogs/voices. By signing up on that site, I'm pretty much getting myself into the Experiment. I wonder how much of an online community there is for this series...)
And go figure, I'm reading this, noting that James Patterson also wrote The Lake House which became a movie, so I was musing today if there will be a Maximum Ride movie, and now, well, the Maximum Ride website seems to have some info...
Reserved the second one at the library. Now to get through my other books before they are overdue...
