Hey, do Americans write "lose" as in "lose a turn" as "loose"? How come?

I just saw "Office Space" - great movie. :) I didn't expect it to end so quickly :)

The "Jump to Conclusions Mat" had "loose a turn" on it, and I'm wondering if it was a spelling error or just the American way of spelling it.

So, after watching Memento yesterday, I noticed that the DVD starts skipping in the credits. I also noticed that the DVD Player had troubles on the initial startup (when the FBI warning loads).

So I take it back to Future Shop. They don't have any more of that certain DVD Player, so they offer me one open-box model of another company for the same price. Has anyone ever heard of Shinsonic?

I get it home, and it doesn't load the title screens - just goes right into the movie. Meaning it doesn't obey the programming in the DVD. And the credits still skip. (Now I'm unsure if it's the DVD or the Player.)

So I try another DVD, my Card Captor Sakura DVD. And now it's jammed in there and won't open the drive door. v_v Sounded like an old Commodore 64 Disk Drive when its acting up - lots of grinding sounds.

Back to the store...

Be on the lookout for an incredibly strange anime out there, called "Strange Dawn" (that's its Japanese title).

The concept of the show eludes me a bit, but I remember that it dealt with two schoolgirls being transported to another world, where everyone (except them) is SuperDeformed, and the two schoolgirls are revered as Gods there. They get caught in an itty-bitty battle on a large scale.

It feels like El-Hazard with a small full-scale war. It's funny, but also just as strange as the title implies.

Well, this new DVD Player worked as soon as I got it back to the store - go figure - and it seems to only jump to the movie on certain DVDs, so I'm going to keep it. Until the drive bay door jams again. (Besides, with the Dragon's Lair DVD, I had barely any pauses, which was quite impressive given the low-endness of the model...)
